Real Wedding Libbie and Israel @Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater

Libbie and Israel had a spiritual wedding ceremony and shared their vows as the sun was setting at the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater this evening.

They joined together by saying vows to each other and also to Jonathan, Israel's 3 year old son.

The wedding theme was simple elegance, with the colors white/black and maroon. The beautiful bride entered with her dad to Pachelbel's Canon in D Minor, carrying a lovely silk maroon flower bouquet. Libbie and Israel shared blended sand, symbolizing that their lives are now joined together, thus, no longer able to be separated. A beautiful poem entitled The Best Is Yet to Be was read by the brides good friend. The love that they shared was so evident by the look in their eyes. Jonathan looked on with such pleasure and adoration for the beautiful bride.

After the nuptials, the couple were greeted by the staff of the Sandpearl and shared a champagne toast and congratulations from their guests. Then on to the COVE room for their reception. The room was decorated with the colors the bride had chosen, and the cake reflected the same. Each person received an individual gift bag that was special for them. I noticed one of the gift bags had a cute Teddy Bear Pez Dispenser..........wonder who was the lucky winner of that???

Once again, the staff of the Sandpearl Resort, from the greeter, to the event staff, to the valet, all continually show us what real customer service is. They treat each and every person they encounter as if they are the only customer..........I like that..........and so do our couples.

Anime inspired wedding Stacia and Gabriel@Sunken Gardens

When Stacia and Gabriel phoned me to officiate their wedding at the Sunken Gardens, they expressed their desire to have an Anime influenced ceremony and reception. To my surprise, I had not heard of Anime before, so I was excited at the prospect of venturing into new territory and work with them to create the ceremony of their dreams.

Stacia and Gabriel are fans of Anime and had actually met while looking at Japanese animated items in a bookstore. WOW! Talk about finding your soulmate.

If you, like me, are not clear about what that is, I will give you a short explanation. Anime is the Japanese abbreviation and pronunciation of "Animation" - animated cartoons. Anime is an art form, with influences of Japanese calligraphy and Japanese paintings that characterize the linear qualities of the anime style.

Many of the characters feature larger eyes, with coloring added to the eyes for depth. There are many shows which are influenced by Anime and it has dramatically exposed more Westerners to the culture of Japan. It is reported recently that the number of people studying the Japanese culture and language has increased dramatically.

Stacia and Gabriel had a true vision for their ceremony. There is a wonderful Japanese legend that states a couple is bound at birth by a red thread, which continually shrinks over the years, until the man and woman are united in marriage, and this was the day! They practiced their vows in Japanese, I practiced learning to welcome guests in Japanese. "Yokosou!" I have to say, not an easy language! The guests were sent magnificent hand made artfully designed invitations that pictured an Anime couple somewhat representing Stacia and Gabriel. Guests were invited to come dressed in Japanese attire if they so wished. It was a beautiful array of fashion and colors the day of the ceremony.

During the ceremony, I described that they spoke of each other as the yin and yang to the other. The traditional Sake ceremony, called the San San Kudo was held. In essence, as the couple take their sips, they are taking their marriage vows. This ritual is very sacred and carried out in silence. Drinking from the first cup, they honor their families, but drinking from the second cup, they promise to live together and work together for the rest of their lives, and by drinking from the third cup, they are wishing that their home will be a happy place filled with love, and a future filled with prosperity, health, happiness and blessings.

To Gabriel and Stacia, I cannot thank you enough for the privilege of honoring you with the beautiful ceremony of your dreams. I say to you, Omedetou! Congratulations!

There are button bouquets, paper origami bouquets, brooch bouquets and shell. There were way too many but I wanted to show you some of my favorite ideas! Prior to the Association of Bridal Consultants Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, I thought I knew what a Green Wedding actually was. However, after attending the session by Kate Harrison, author of the Green Bride Guide, I found I knew very little. Her book The Green Bride Guide: How to plan an Earth Friendly Wedding on any budget, is a best selling wedding book. She has now created the country's first green wedding professional certification class with the Wedding Planning Institute to help wedding planners learn about eco-friendly alternatives.

In 2010, green weddings were the number five wedding trend globally, with 46% of couples looking to include eco-friendly elements to their wedding day plans. The book offers dozens of tips and tricks to green a wedding day on any budget, without sacrificing style. Some of the topics include:

The environmental impacts of traditional weddings and the importance of going green.
Ways to green any wedding or event just by making simple substitutions.
Tips and tricks to green your wedding business.
Techniques for incorporating the green message into your marketing materials.

After attending this session, I feel that I have a better understanding of the environmental impact of each part of the wedding, from invitations to favors, to food and flowers. I will be telling my clients about business associates that I work with that are environmentally conscious and assist my clients in finding eco friendly alternatives throughout their planning process.

I plan to commit ways to make my own business greener, and look for more ways to use ideas and market them to others.

Real Wedding @Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites Wedding

11/11/11 it only happens every one hundred years.

This was a very special day for many couples, and we were honored to officiate the wedding of Leanne and Jeffery Green on the beach at the Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites at Treasure Island, Florida.

Jeffery and his groomsmen managed the setup of the beautiful beach theme wedding. Leanne looked simply gorgeous as she arrived on her brothers arms, processing in to the steel drum music. The aisle was decorated with starfish and bell jars filled with beach sand, starfish and sand dollars.

The couple shared their personal vows, and joined their individual sand vials together, symbolizing the joining of their lives together. In Filipino tradition, the bride and groom exchanged the aras.

These are the coins that flow from the groom to the bride and back to demonstrate his willingness to support his wife and family, and her willingness to be an equal partner in the marriage.

After the ceremony, the couple and their family enjoyed a reception in the venue cafe overlooking the tropical courtyard and waterfalls. We were so honored to be such an integral part of their day.

Association of Bridal Consultants

WOW!!!!!! I just returned from the Association of Bridal Consultants Annual Conference. All I can say is WOW! It was held in Baltimore, Maryland, and as an officiant, I can honestly say, meeting with the Consultants, Planners, and vendors from the Association really charge me up to be even better and more creative.

I was blessed to once again be a speaker this year at one of the break out sessions. My topic was creative rituals and I was able to feature a few of my more unique weddings. Our time was short, as I could have shared so much more, but hopefully I was able to inspire another member and provide a little insight into my world of officiating and my company LovingUnity.com

I was also very proud of our Florida delegation. We have a strong leader and team who provide great support for all of us in our business ventures. I will post more information about the speakers and venue and plans for adding more Green Weddings to my business.

Real Wedding Angelique and Dominic @DonCesar Resort

Can you believe at 10am this morning for the wedding of Angelique and Dominic at the Don Cesar that it was already pushing 90 degrees?? I am so glad we had that slight ocean breeze! Angelique was escorted in by her mom, and was greeted at the end of the Aisle by Dominic, her soulmate. The colors chosen for the bridesmaids, junior bridesmaids, moms and flowers were the most magnificent shades of purple! There were 3 flower girls, one ring bearer, a junior bridesmaid and 2 bridesmaids. Dominic was escorted in by his grandmother Edna with his mom Debra and Gordon following. He took his placed next to the best man and the two groomsmen.

Although the weather was hot, the bride kept calm and cool and they shared their beautiful vows with each other. At the ring exchange, the couple also placed the engagement ring back on her finger as a sign that the promise and intention had been fulfilled and a new promise and intention was being made today with the stating of their wedding vows.

After their custom wedding ceremony, the entire wedding party and guests went to the courtyard for a group shot. I am including a few candids of the flower girls and ring bearer with the bride.

After the ceremony the couple and their immediate family will be celebrating on a cruise leaving out of Tampa this afternoon! BonVoyage! Congratulations Angelique and Dominique. May you be blessed with a long and happy life full of love and abundance.

Kylie and Jeff are married at the Bilmar Beach Resort today!!!!!

A quick change of plans moved Kylie and Jeff''s wedding from the Beach to the Crystal Ballroom at the Bilmar.Beach Resort. The staff of the Bilmar was extremely efficient and accommodating to make the change. They set up the ballroom to accommodate the ceremony, along with a bamboo arch, and set up comfortable seating for all of the guests It was such an honor for me to officiate the wedding of Kylie and Jeff! After the ceremony they quickly turned the room around to the romantic setting for the reception that the couple loved. The couple were such fun to work with, they were energetic, fun, and very happy to be making a commitment to share the rest of their lives together.

Kylie and Jeff opted for a tiered cupcake cake with a small white wedding cake on the top with their initials done by Cakes by Carolyn, and a grooms chocolate cake from Publix. In addition, they had an incredible candy bar, fully equipped with individual gumball machines!! Yummy! There was something to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth.

The flowers were created by Rose Garden Florist in Largo. The bride carried a magnificent bouquet of white and orchid flowers. The bridesmaids wore champagne colored dresses, and carried cala lillies, and the flower girl did a great job scattering petals for the bride's entrance. In keeping with the beach theme, the groomsmen had boutineres with tiny starfish and shells attached. The bride was escorted in by her dad.

After Kylie and Jeff exchanged their wedding vows and wedding rings, they were pronounced husband and wife. After the kiss, the groom promptly updated his facebook status from "single" to "married". This is such a great new trend!!!

The moms signed the license and it is now official!! Enjoy the photos that we took! Congratulations Kylie and Jeff, may you're lives be abundant full of love and happiness.

Renae and Brian were junior high school sweethearts and they tied the knot this weekend! It was truly my honor to work with them. It was wonderful to see such a long lasting love. The sparkle in their eyes and the love that radiated from them was incredible! Their wedding took place on the beach at the Sirata Beach Resort, with close friends and family present. The bride looked magnificent in her gown, and the groom work his Army dress uniform. The bridesmaids wore flowing peach long dresses and the groomsmen wore long shirts with peach ties to match.

At the time of pronouncement, the groom immediately texted his "change of Status" on facebook from Single to Married!!! After the ceremony, group photos were taken in the courtyard and the guests enjoyed a fabulous reception with an Italian Buffet style meal. The menu included Italian Lasagna, Sausage and peppers, Chicken Marsala, seasonal vegetables, tossed salads and garlic bread! Melanie, the wedding coordinator and the staff of the Sirata always provide outstanding service and it is a pleasure to work with them. The couple cut their cake, and shared two desserts, Wedding Raspberry Elegance and a Kiss of Chocolate Bliss. Also, they provided a great candy bar buffet for their guests. Yummy! Sirata Resort Hindu Christian Interfaith Wedding Jessica and Dhaval

WOW! Such an incredible wedding at the Sirata Resort! Pictures just don't do it justice. The colors were magnificent.

Jessica and Dhaval had the ceremony of their dreams that combined the rich treasures of each other's tradition. The bride was gorgeous! The groom was escorted in by both of his parents, as was the bride.

They celebrated the rituals of the sacred fire, the sharing of the garlands, the beaded necklace from Dhaval to his bride, the placing of the red cloth over their hands after the vows, and the placing of the red marking on Jessica's forehead symbolizing their are joined as one.

It is wonderful that we live in a country that allows couples to share their love and be respectful of each other's traditions and beliefs. True love still rules over all! Jessica and Dhaval were a stunning couple, and it was truly and honor to work with them to bring it all together. Baptism of Twins at the Palm Harbor White Chapel

What could be more exciting than performing a baptism on a beautiful baby boy??? Getting to baptize TWINS! I was so excited to be able to perform the Baptism of Renton and Liam at the Palm Harbor White Chapel. They were so beautiful in their outfits with the little bow ties!

They enjoyed the ritual until the water had to be poured on their heads. It was so exciting to welcome them into the family of God, with their family and friends there to share this wonderful celebration!

The Vinoy Wedding of Gillian and Tam

My greatest honor is to create and officiate customized wedding ceremonies. Gillian and Tam were such a beautiful couple, and I enjoyed every moment of the planning of their unique wedding that was held at the Vinoy in St. Petersburg. The Tea Garden was the perfect location for their intimate ceremony. The ceremony was written to incorporate Gillian and Tam's ethnic and religious traditions. The ceremony incorporated Catholic and Buddhist rituals, and demonstrated their spiritual nature and their desire to live the life of kindness.

The Tea Garden of the Vinoy was decorated with magnificent flowers designed by Scott of Apple Blossom Florist. I hope that the pictures I have chosen to share with you will give you an idea of the beautiful colors and how they were incorporated with the traditions of the couple. Even the readings that were selected encompassed the different cultures.

A table set to the side held pictures of the deceased ancestors, and was the altar where the couple brought the relatives to mind, lit incense to honor them, and ask for their blessings upon their marriage. The flowers that had been placed on that table are offerings representing beauty, love, compassion and peace.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a bell was rung three times, and rose petals that had been placed in perfumed water were strewn at the couples feet to bring to mind the sacredness of the ground.

Caldesi Steel Band Wedding Music

This weekend, I officiated at a wedding where I had the opportunity to meet Dave Holmstrand, from the Caladesi Steel Band. Dave performed the steel drum music for a wedding at the Hyatt Regency on Clearwater Beach and it was just perfect. I had some time to chat with him and learn about his steel drum talent and also that of the group that he is with.

He told me that from solo to quartet, the Caladesi Steel Band can provide the perfect musical soundtrack for a ceremony and cocktail hour on the couple's special day. For the ceremony, they play acoustically, to provide a traditional and authentic island sound. For the cocktail hour, they use a small sound system to play more upbeat and rhythmically to set the tone for the rest of the evening. Music is available for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour, or special pricing for ceremony/cocktail hour.

Obtaining a Marriage License in Florida

Here's a bit of information about securing a Marriage License in Florida Most of you may know this already, so it is a refresher. ALL of the Florida Resident couples that utilize the services of LovingUnity receive the Marriage Preparation Course which will enable them to receive a discount of $32.50 off the cost of the marriage license. Not only is the discount great, but it gives couples time - 4 hours in fact - to spend time going over important details of the important matters in a relationship. The course covers raising children or not, financial dealings, managing family and step family issues, general communication, religious views and practices,resolving conflicts, and the expectations of the couple in marriage.

Here's what you need to know about getting a Marriage License in Florida:

You do not have to be a resident of Florida. The 3 day waiting period is waived for those who reside outside of Florida. Both Bride and Groom must present proof of residency from another state, such as your drivers license.

Picture ID, and your Social Security Card or a valid passport number or I-94 card. You may be asked for a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Regarding previous marriages, the date of your divorce, or date of spouse's death must be supplied. A certified copy of the divorce decree or death certificate is required.

Regarding the Waiting Period, there is no 3 day waiting period for those Florida couples who have taken the Marriage Prep Course within the last 12 months. There IS a 3 day waiting period for couples who have not taken the course.

Fee: $93.50 Those couples who have completed the course are entitled to a discount - the fee would be $61.00.

Under 18, if under 18 but older than 16, a marriage license can be obtained with parental consent. If a parent has sole custody or the other parent is deceased, the permission of one parent is sufficient. If a person is under age 16, the license must be issued by a county judge with or without parental permission.

Fantastic Association of Bridal Consultants Florida Conference

When I am not officiating weddings, commitment ceremonies, renewals, or memorial services, I try to keep current with the wedding industry. This weekend, I have had the opportunity to attend and participate in the Association of Bridal Consultants Southeast Regional Meeting in St. Augustine. The title of the conference was Exploring the Past, and Building the Future. This is a time where I get to hear fresh ideas, meet bridal consultants from the region, and learn from experts in a variety of fields.

The general session today was called "Destiny - What's yours?" presented by keynote speaker Linnytte Richardon Hall, the Wedding Diva, from Who's Wedding is it Anyway from the Style Network. She was fantastic!! The general session was "Shining Bright and Standing Out" presented by Ana Cruz. You may know Ana from AnaCruz.com She is known also from Who's Wedding is it Anyways?" Both beautiful women had presentations that taught us how to value our professions, how to manage our lives and businesses with elegance and integrity. I will post about these glorious woman at a later time, but wanted to just give you a glimpse into the quality of speakers I had the privilege to enjoy.

The workshops I attended in the afternoon on Saturday were "Branding Yourself to Stand Out in the Social Network Ocean" by David Hanscom. WOW, I have so much still to learn! That is why I will always continue going to conferences to keep sharp. Another session I attended was "Cashing In on Customer Service" presented by Elisa Delgardio of A Flair for Affairs. It is always a constant reminder to treat your clients as you would wish to be treated, from first contact to last. The third session today was "2010 Internet Strategy For Your Business" with Joe Lemire of Elyk Innovation, Inc and Chris Kennelly of Kinnetic Productions. I just need to make some YouTube videos for my website or blog!

The evening dinner was at the beautiful Casa Monica. The Swinging 40's offsite event! It was a beautiful hotel, very historic, reminded me of a Spanish Castle, old World, and the meal was wonderful. After the meal, we were treated to a Ghost Tour. The trolleys took us to St. Augustine lighthouse, and to the oldest jail in America. We were entertained by Charlie, one of the ghosts of the past at the jail. Such a busy day!

Tomorrow, we have our general session "Etiquette and Service Revival" presented by Sandra Monahan.Master Bridal Consultants.

I am so glad that I have the opportunity to attend and learn, and I have so many new, exciting ideas for my couples. It is also great to meet and greet other wedding professionals to share so many awesome ideas. I am proud that being a Wedding Officiant in this Industry has been my D.E.S.T.I.N.Y.

Jennifer and Richard had selected the Crown Plaza for their wedding and just before the wedding, the location closed!! Without missing a beat, they and their wedding planner, Patricia White Davis, located the Four Points Sheraton in Leominster, Massachusetts. The hotel could not have been more accomodating. Kathy, the Banquet Manager, and Joanne the Wedding Hostess, did an incredible job with such short notice and made Jen and Rich so happy and relieved. It could not have been more beautiful! Jenn was so beautiful and Richard was smashing, and the smiles were beaming as they shared their vows. Rev. David Bishop of LovingUnity.com officiated the wedding. They had chosen a religious ceremonny and the bride entered after the reading of Genesis, Chapter 2. In addition to the wedding and reception, the highlight was having their photos taken next to an antique custom automobile. They had planned to ride off into the sunset but the downpour of rain prevented that, but you will see from the pictuers, it was a fabulous car. Enjoy! Congratulations Jen and Rich!

Reiki Infused Custom Wedding for Jaclyn and Greg

I was thrilled when I was contacted by Jaclyn who wnted to have a Reiki inspired wedding. Jaclyn is a Reiki practitioner, as I am, so it was fantastic to work with her to create this unique and beautiful ritual. The weather was not cooperative at the beginning of the ceremony, while we were staking out the four directions, and smudging the area for the couple. The clouds were dark and threatening, but Jaclyn and Greg were determined to be married at Crescent Beach in Maine. Gondiva brought the couple into the area with the blowing of the Conch shell to the four directions. Everyone donned their umbrellas, and the beautiful bride, and handsome groom arrived all smiles. After smudging the area, a group meditation and energy share took place, and an explanation of the elements was provided to the guests. As the couple exchanged the vows they had written for each other, the rain stopped, and a magnificent rainbow appeared. It was if it was on command! The rainbow yet again reminds us that even if there are storms in life, there are always rainbows that can follow. It was so beautiful and was a great backdrop for their wedding photos. After the wedding, the couple was gifted with a Conch Shell from Gondiva, and Greg was successful in being able to blow the shell after only a few attempts! Such a beautiful couple, such a unique ceremony, and I was so very honored to be asked to work with them and create the ceremony of their dreams. Congratulations Jaclyn and Greg, may you be blessed forever.

Celtic Wedding at the Bilmar Beach Resort, Florida

It was such a pleasure and honor to officiate the Celtic Wedding of Laurie and Frank this weekend! It all began with beautiful celtic music being played to greet the guests. The vows that they spoke were the traditional celtic vows, and then followed up with their own personal words to each other. As they stated their vows, they each held an oathing stone. One of the stones was an actual piece of the Blarney Stone, and another round stone from the brides family farm in Ireland. Oathing stones are very sacred in the ritual, as the ancients took their vows on sacred stones where spiritual devotions and ancient rituals took place. Stones are part of the earth, and hold the memories of Irish ancestors. To make a binding oath on or near a sacred stone, is to make a powerful and lasting vow, as if your vows are "cast in stone". Laurie and Frank exchanged wedding rings with the celtic knots circling them.

The handfasting ritual is a celtic ritual that began in the middle ages, demonstrating that the couple is now bound together and are tying the knot. Laurie and Frank chose a fabric that is the Muirhead Plaid representing his Scottish heritage.

The Loving Cup, called a Quaich, was ordered special for this occasion. By the 15th century it was common for the Celtic couple to toast each other with a ceremonial cup. This cup is called the Quaich and is a two handled bowl often with an inlaid celtic design. As with this quaich, it is inlaid with Celtic knotwork that is unending represnting the permanence of the marriage. As a circl symbolises Eternity, so does the celtic knotwork. and the interlacing patterns flowing endlessly on as the sea, with no beginning, no end. These intricate patterns reached their peak in the 11th century illuminated manuscripts of the Lindifarne Gospels and the Book of Kells. Laurie and Frank toasted to their love of the past, present and future and their happiness at finding their Anam Cara - soul friend. The cup is then passed down from generation to generation, ensuring happiness and good fortune for all who drink from it.

Frank and Laurie also blended their families together with a sand ritual, using sand from Sand Key, their favorite beach.

After the wedding the wedding party was introducted in to an irish jig, which they all enjoyed. Congratulations Laurie and Frank! I was very honored to celebrate your heritage and mine as well! Laurie and Frank.... Slante'

Association of Bridal Consultants Workshop

WOW! Today I experienced a great workshop! The workshops are put on by the Association of Bridal Consultants and we were at the Spruce Creek Country Club in Port Orange. One of the things that really impresses me is how the association provides such great education topics. Even tho I am an officiant, running my own business, it helps to have guidance and insight, and I can really appreciate how hard the Wedding and Event Planners and Consultants with ABC work. I am proud to be a member. Oh.....so many new ideas to implement!!!!!!!!! I will keep you posted!!! Great job facilitators Tammy Waterman and Lisa Burnett!! So proud of you! I want to chat with you about stress management and how to cope with your marriage stress. In particular, your wedding day stress. Stress is really the state of mind most likely to ruin your special day, and your event. As a Reiki practitioner, I want to tell you how Reiki is the ultimate "Stress Management Tool" amd how I can channel Reiki Healing Energy to quiet your mind, and body, and relax you. I can relax your body to have a clear mind, being held with stillness and silence, and help you with the healing energy that will give your whole "Self" the opportunity for being restored and refreshed.

On the months leading up to the Wedding Day, if you would like, you can arrange for your guests, and your wedding party, and in particular the Bride and Groom, to have a Reiki Treatment before the big day. You will truy be amazed at hw stress free everyone can be. You will be able to cope with the stress that the big day creates, and you will be happy with the results! This reduction in stress will help you to cope with whatever curves life throws you!

Stress is actually a rising cause of sickness from work, which replaces bad backs as the main cause for people's illness and loss of time from work.

I believe that anything that reduces stress is worth the trial. It would be recommended that Brides and Grooms have a Reiki session approximately two weeks prior to the wedding and then have the Reiki Practicioner come to your home the morning of the wedding and provide Reiki to the Bride and Mother of the Bride. In addition, the bridesmaids could benefit as well. It will definitely make a big difference in the way that the day will go. The stress is relieved to a great extent to everyone's relief.

Physicians are fully aware of the presence of stress - they are vulnerable to it themselves! Stress is how you perceive the demands and pressures that life presents, and how you are able to draw on your inner resources to cope. Civil Unions, Commitment Ceremonies, Same Sex Marriages

What do the above titles have in common?? They are ALL demonstrations of commitment and love between two people witnessed by their friends and family. I am always happy when I officiate the life rituals uniting two people in love. Individuals who choose to make a lifetime commitment to one another are making the ultimate decision to share their love, hopes and dreams, and begin a shared venture, for better or worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health. When a couple decides to make their commitment together, I suggest to them different types of rituals, blending ceremonies, readings, and vows. Here is a reading that was brought to me by one couple for their ceremony, I wanted to share it with you.

The Commitment to Love Poem

Love is the strongest and most fulfilling emotion possible

It lets you share your goals, your desires, your experiences

It lets you share your life with someone

It lets you be yourself

With someone who will always support you

It lets you feel tenderness and warmth-

Incorporating children into the wedding

Another fantastic wedding weekend!!!! I was thrilled to officiate the wedding of John and Kathleen along with their three boys! Often we think of a wedding as the union of two people, but in reality it is much broader. It is the coming together of families. The wedding took place at the beautiful White Cliffs in Northboro, Massachusetts, and John and Kathleen had many unique elements. Kathleen was escorted in by her sons, who carried roses with the wedding rings attached. John and Kathleen wrote the vows that they shared with each other and kept them secret from each other until the ceremony. It was such a romantic touch.

After the couple shared their vows they spoke a vow with Devan, Troy and John and gave them each a family medallion. The boys knew that they had a very special role in this wonderful day!

The family medallions symbolize the love that binds them all together forever. The boys were told that they are a gift and blessing that God gave to them. Their parents promised that today, tomorrow and forever, they will love them, care for them, and that they are together as a family for life.

A customized ceremony truly made the day special for John, Kathleen and their families. Congratulations and best wishes for a long, healthy, and happy life together.

Unusual Ring Bearer - A Robot???

An associate of mine, Rev. Claire Goodman recently officiated at a wedding where the bride was an employee of NASA. Apparently, they thought it would be fun to have a ROBOT for a ring bearer!!! Claire took some photos, which I have attached here. I just love it when people are so creative! This must have been a really fun wedding. Thank you Claire for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I personally have seen many dog ring bearers, but I think this takes the cake!!!!!

Samuel Wilde Memorial Chapel Wedding of Nicole and Rob

Nicole and Rob chose the historic Samuel Wilde Memorial Chapel in Portland as the location to tie the knot! The setting was beautiful! The weather had been foggy and raining but at the time of the ceremony the sun shone brightly on the happy couple! After the ceremony, the couple and their guests celebrated at the Eastland Hotel in Portland. Music was provided by Michael Mahoney of M&M Entertainment and the dance floor was bustling all evening! The staff at the Eastland Hotel provided outstanding service! I was very impressed with the way that they welcomed the newlyweds with he opening of the champagne bottle corks all at the same time for the toast!. In Addition to a wonderful meal, the staff entertained with a flaming desert. Congratulations Nicole and Rob, may yuo have many years of happiness together!

A 25th Wedding Anniversary Renwal of Vows

Paul and Carol and their families stood in exactly the same spot, and the very location where they began their lives together as husband and wife 25 years ago! The Martha Mary Charpel at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury was he fantastic and romantic location for them to renew and share again their word of commitment and love for the rest of their lives. I was so honored to work with them to create a beautiful ceremony that included the wedding bowl ritual representing their lives and the twists and turns and the commitment that it takes to continue to keep the fire of love burning bright. Keep the spark of love alive! Renewal of Vows

As you know I just love officiating weddings and commitment ceremonies but I have to say, when couples make the decision to renew their vows and reaffirm their commitment, it stirs something heart warming deep within me. Couples are choosing again, to recommit, reinvigorate, and give new life to their marriage vows.

Danielle and Lucas chose to renew their vows in Maine, near the Anchorage Hotel, across from the beach in York. Although the day was a bit foggy, their smiles and the gleam in their eyes, truly showed their love for one another and the pleasure they took in renewing the vows they had made seven years ago! Together they have raised a beautiful daughter, and have spent the time to make their relationship a priority in their lives. Congratulations Danielle and Lucas, I was so very honored to officiate your renewal and be there with you on that very special day. Best wishes for many, many, years together!!!

Walsingham Park - where the couple first met........

Natalie and Benjamin first met and then fell in love during their visits to Walsingham Park. Thus, selecting a location in the park to exchange their vows was perfect! Remembering deceased family and friends......

Many times I meet with couples who have experienced the loss of family and friends and they ask me about the ways that they can pay tribute to those people. I'd like to share with you a few of the ideas I have, and show you a few ideas that my couples have created as well.

Those we lost, remain in our hearts forever...........

During the beginning of a wedding ceremony, I ask the couple if they would like to have a special mention of their deceased family of friend. This is done by saying.......today, the couple, would like to mention the brides grandparents, John and Mary Smith and the grooms father, Bill Jones. We know that they are with us in spirit today on this very happy occasion. Some times, couples choose to leave a flower on a seat in the audience, or they may wish to light a memorial candle during the ceremony. Another idea is to have photos of those to be remembered at an area at the reception with candles or flowers. Of course, a couple who is going to have a wedding program, may wish to have it printed on their back page of the program. I would be happy to hear from all of you as well if you have some creative ideas on memorial mention.

One of the greatest part of my role as an officiant is the opportunity to meet so many beautiful and loving couples who want to spend the rest of their lives together. Carrie and Omar are a fantastic couple, and I worked with them to customize their religious ceremony. The wedding was held on the beach at the magnificent Sandpearl Resort, in Clearwater, Florida, where they had a blended sand ritual to demonstrate the joining of their lives together. It was a sunny warm day with a slight breeze, and the Sandpearl staff brought out a refreshment stand with cooling drinks for the guests. Brides Against Breast Cancer - We Granted A Wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of you know, I have a few volunteer organizations I work with but one that really warmed my heart recently was when we granted a wish for a Breast Cancer Survivor!!!! A delightful and awesome opportunity was presented to me. I was honored to officiate the wedding of Cassiday and Douglas at the Safety Harbor Resort in April. Their eyes truly sparkled as they shared their own personal words of vows, and exchanged rings. Their daughters looked on with misty eyes, and so did all the other vendors who helped make Cassiday's wish a reality!!! This was truly made possible by the love and generosity of a variety of people who gave of their time and talents to make this wish come true!!! Congratulations Cassiday and Douglas, we wish you a very long, happy, and prosperous life!!!! May you be blessed.

Celtic/Irish Wedding Rituals

I would like to share with you some of the ethnic weddings that I have had the honor of officiating with Loving Unity. Since it is March, and St. Patrick's Day is coming closer, it seems fitting that I should start with this tradition. Exploring customs can be an exciting and educational journey for both the couple and me. Couples share their customs with one another and their guests which lead to an extraordinary and memorable wedding!

This is one of my favorites!! Generally speaking Irish Weddings take place over a period of days, full of fun and festivities!! They have a reputation of having a great time, centered around eating, music, dancing and drinking!

Music plays a large role in Celtic Weddings. One of the most popular types of music is a Bagpiper. He or she usually leads the wedding processional and escorts the couple out after the end of the ceremony. Celtic weddings have several interesting elements. Usually the bride is escorted in and presented, and the guests form a circle around the area. A bride usually is carrying a horseshoe for good luck. It can be incorporated into her bridal bouquet. It could also be used attached to the hand fasting ribbons or to the inside of the bridal gown. The couple will share their vows with one another. One of my favorite elements used at this time is the “oathing stone”. In ancient times, the kings and high political figures would place their hand on a stone as they said their oath. In the wedding ritual, couples place their hands or one of their feet on a stone, which can be designed as a stepping stone they can keep forever. As they share their vows together, they place their foot or hand on the stone, thus, casting their vows in stone. Several couples have made some unique and beautiful oathing stones.

Another ritual is a hand fasting ceremony. Hands can be gently tied together with ribbon, a vine, rope, or a piece of material that matches the wedding colors. The couple’s hands are bound together at the wrist to demonstrate that they are now bound together for life forming a circle of infinity and love.

A blessing cup or unity cup is used for the couples to drink from. Each takes a sip from the same cup, indicating that whatever may come forth in their marriage, they are willing to accept the bitter and the sweet, together in life.

At the reception, coins are to be tossed to the guests for good luck, or the couple could place candy coins at each place as a favor.

Depending on the location, couples may choose to wear sandals or be barefoot to be close to the earth. The burning of peat in a small fireplace will also enhance the atmosphere to create a true feeling of a Celtic wedding.

. The Claddagh is the traditional Irish wedding ring, but many couples choose to have a band with a Celtic knot displayed.

It was an honor for Rev. David Bishop to officiate as Carrie and Marc shared their love and exchanged their vows in front of their family and friends at the Butterfly Garden area of the Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg. The religious ceremony gave testimony to God's love that the couple share. The colors of the bridesmaids gowns and the flowers were magnificent! The couple and their children participated in a family blended sand ceremony ritual, and Carrie shared a very special vow with the children. Fiddle music filled the air for the wedding party, and the bride's entrance, and music from the Lion King was played during the blended sand ceremony. It was so beautiful! Nature Inspired Wedding in an Oak Pavillion

It was an honor for me to officiate the wedding of Katie andTony! ! Katie and Tony celebrated their special moment strolling over the walkway to exchange their vows under a canopy of shade trees in the Oak Pavilion at the Sunken Gardens. The beauty and tranquility of this timeless sanctuary added to the romance of their special day.

The Sunken Gardens is a botanical paradise in the midst of a bustling city. As St. Petersburg's oldest living museum, this 100 year old garden is home to some of the oldest tropical plants in the region.

Wedding guests had the opportunity to unwind as they strolled through meandering paths, lush with exotic plants from around the world. They explored cascading waterfalls, beautiful demonstration gardens, more than 50,000 tropical plants and flowers.

Katie and Tony specifically chose this location because of their love of nature and gardens, and as Katie told me, it is a reminder of the beautiful gardens and nature God has provided for us to enjoy.

Katie and Tony shared very beautiful vows with each other, and also shared a vow with Tony's daughter Brooke.

Debbie of The Bridess Bouquet.

Julio and Billie Tie the Knot on Valentines Day!

Do you remember in the movie LOVE STORY the famous line…….Love isn’t love till you give it away??? Well, with that in mind, Loving Unity Officiants and selected wedding professionals decided to sponsor a contest for one lucky couple to enter to win a free wedding ceremony on Valentines Day! The lucky winners were Billie and Julio of Largo, and their three children!!! What a beautiful wedding they had. The venue was Islands Bamboo Gardens in Pinellas Park! Kelly and Karlyn provided the setting that included a beautiful bamboo archway for the couple to be married under, and the music for the ceremony. Billie and Julio exchanged their vows next to the waterfalls, Koi pond, and fabulous variety of Bamboo! This location was beautiful and peaceful! All who attended were amazed by the beauty and peace they experienced while they were there to witness Billie and Julio exchanging their vows. The stunning red rose bouquet, boutonnière, and rose cake top were provided as a gift from The Rose Garden Florist. The red roses were exquisite!!!

The couple selected a religious wedding, which I officiated, and they lit a unity candle to join their lives together. The beautiful photography was compliments of Britt McAllister.

What would a wedding be without cake?? The moist and tasty cake with raspberry filling was provided compliments of Bonnie Yarborough of Celebration Cakes! It was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted, and I taste cake at just about every wedding that I officiate!! After cutting the cake, the couple danced their first dance as husband and wife! Following their dance, the couple celebrated a toast with custom wine provided by Hugh and Jean of Wine Works! Not only was the wine custom made, but notice the front of the bottle!! It had the couple’s photo and wedding date! How special!!! After the toast, the couple was presented with a gift basket provided by Kendra Briggs and the Perfect Wedding Guide! All of the guests and the vendors that provided their services for Billie and Julio signed guest book compliments of Michele of Paper Players and gave the couple a wedding card and personal gift.

This was a wonderful example of love; each vendor gave of their love to provide this couple with a gorgeous, meaningful, and spectacular wedding celebration that they will remember for the rest of their lives!!!

Heartfelt thanks to all my fellow wedding professionals, whom I also consider very dear friends, for giving of their time and talents to make a dream come true for Billie and Julio and their children!!!

I just love this location!!! It is truly unique and intimate, and perfect for your wedding ceremony if you enjoy the outdoors and nature, and have 80 guests or less. Karlyn and Kelly Bradshaw have done an outstanding job preparing this area to be an impeccable location! The venue is great for a wedding and reception for groups of 80 or less, seated. It can accomodate 100 for a cocktail party. In addition to an attractive Guadua Bamboo Arch that was 100% designed by Kelly, the site has a garden atmosphere, with Koi pond, waterfall, fountains and tiki torches. There are outside bathrooms, and ice machine, outdoor sound system, dressing room for the bride, and inside reception area available. Step Parent Issues with the Wedding Planning

Step Parent Issues

The Delicate Issue of Steps...

...And I don't mean the staircase you descend on your wedding day!

Consider yourself unusual if you and your spouse-to-be both have parents that are still married to each other (not your parents to your fiancé’s parents of course, cuz….well….that would be just…well….WRONG, but you know what I mean—both of your respective biological moms are still married to your respective biological dads!) I don’t have any firm statistics, but based on the number of couples I’ve seen, I’d offer a guess that only about one in 10 fit this mold. The rest of you have parental units that are some mishmash of divorced, divorced and single, divorced and remarried, divorced and living with a significant other, divorced and gay, or even divorced, remarried and divorced again. Multiply that by four and the possibilities for stress are endless!

The first thing you need to do is assess the situation. Remember that you are under no obligation to include anyone and everyone in your wedding ceremony. It’s your day! Easier said than done, however, if you are trying to be respectful to everyone but your mother won’t get near “that” woman and your dad will not acknowledge your stepfather’s existence. There are some however, some tips to get you through the worst of it.

Much will depend on the timing. If your parents divorced when you were young and the “step” was an integral part of your upbringing, then you will probably want to give them a higher level of involvement than the step who didn’t come into your life until your adult years.

For the most part (and I will acknowledge that there are exceptions to every rule) it is probably best to put a priority on the feelings of your biological parents—unless they just being plain unreasonable. Always mention them first and include in your ceremony in the highest places of honor. Generally, these include escorting the bride down the aisle, helping the bride get dressed (definitely reserved for your biological mom!)lighting the unity candle, the etiquette of being seated (i.e. bride’s mother is always the last to be seated, with the groom’s mother just before her), being given front row seats, inclusion in the prayer of thanks to parents, being thanked via a toast at the reception, inclusion in the receiving line (of there is one) etc.

Regardless of the closeness of the “step” relationship, please remember to give each parent (and “steps” are parents even if they are not biological ones) a corsage/boutonniere. It’s inoffensive to all, inexpensive, and subtle and the gesture will be appreciated.

Here are some other ways to include your step-parents in your wedding day, based on the comfort level of all involved:

Have your step mothers seated as part of the processional. Just make sure they are seated before the biological mothers.

If your stepfather has been an important part of the bride’s life, then think about having him escort you part of the way down the aisle, or joining you and your dad as you arrive at the front row. Check with your dad first!

Have your dad escort the bride down the aisle (in traditional fashion). When the officiant asks, “Who gives their blessing to this marriage?” ALL the parents (even the groom’s) can answer “We do.”

Have one of your step-parents do a reading or recite the final blessing.

Include your stepparents in the prayer of thanks to the parents. Out of respect for your parents, you’d have the officiant refer to your biological parents first, then your stepparents after that.

Blow off the entire idea of including any of your parents. Walk down the aisle alone (or with your groom) and just have all parental units be guests. That way, no one gets offended!

Have your biological parents do all the honors for the wedding, but include a special word of thanks to your parents AND stepparents in the program.

As far as seating goes, traditional etiquette (which can always be flaunted in unusual circumstances) dictates that married couples should be seated together. According to the rules of those etiquette mavens in the know, it should look like this (it’s the same for both bride’s and groom’s side, so we’ll just list the bride’s side). Your mom gets the first row and she should be seated next to her husband/significant other. Stepmom goes in the second row, seated next to your biological father. In cases where there is enough seating and everyone gets along, then all four parents (if there are that many) can be seated in the first row. The order should be (from outside in) mother, stepfather, father stepmother. Of course, if your father and stepfather are ready to kill each other, you’ll need to modify this arrangement. Use your common sense and get your officiant to help you—etiquette rules are there to make people comfortable. If following them has the opposite affect, then toss them and make up your own rules.

If the situation among your parents is really tense and you truly like and respect your stepparent but want to respect your biological parents’ wishes, then go along with your biological parents’ wishes for the big day, but be sure to arrange some special time with your step parents beforehand so that you can tell them how much you value them in your lives. Take your stepmother out to lunch, have dinner with the groom’s dad and his wife a week or so before the wedding. Make them feel special and let them know you are glad they will be there on your special day, in spite of possible difficult circumstances.

Alert your officiant and your wedding coordinator, if you have one, to possible volatile situations, sources of friction, etc. We’ve got experience in this field and a word from us in a recalcitrant parental ear often works wonders!

Valentines Day Weddings!!

Yes! We actually have TWO weddings scheduled for Valentine's Day! One is actually the winner of the contest that I had been running on this blog. But, for this entry, I wonder how many people actually know the History of Valentines Day???

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine! But, who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentines Day - and it's patron saint - is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been the month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, has both Christian and Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentius, all of whom were martyred.

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl - who may have been his jailor's daughter- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed. "From your Valentine", an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legend is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

While some believe that Valentine's Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine's death or burial - which probably occurred around 270 A.D. - others claim that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate Valentin's feast day in the middle of February in an effort to "Christianize" celebrations of the pagan Lupercalia festival.

During the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of bird's mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of February - Valentines Day - should be a day for romance. The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London, following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. The greeting, which was written in 1415, is part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England. Several years later, it is believed that King Henry V hired a writer named John Lydgate to compose a valentine note to Catherine of Valois.

In Great Britain, Valentine's Day began to be popularly celebrated around the seventeenth century. By the middle of the eighteenth century, it was common for friends and lovers in all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes. By the end of the century, printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. Ready-made cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions in time when direct expression of one's feelings was discouraged. Cheaper postage rates also contributed to an increase in the popularity of sending Valentine's Greetings Americans probably began exchanging handmade valentines in the early 1700's. Esther A. Howland began to see the first mass-produced valentines in America.

In ancient Babylonian and Assyria, marriage contracts were written on clay tablets. They were included in the large collections (25,000 tablets) of Assurbanipal II of Nineveh, the worlds first librarian. The marriage tablets came into use in Western society for the first time during the period of the Roman emperors.

After the celebration, when the bride had been ushered into the bridal chamber and the marriage was presumed to be successfully consummated, one of two things usually happened. A sacrifice was offered to the gods, and the marriage was recorded in the register!!!

We have come a long way! One of the rituals that I enjoy most is immediately following the wedding, I invite the two witnesses to sign the license and have the couple look on. I had always wondered why it was done off to the side, or privately, and I felt that the witnesses serve such an important role, why not bring them front and center! They seem to enjoy the ritual and the couple does as well, and it provides yet another great photo op for the photographer! So, when the time comes for the signing of your marriage license, make it part of your ritual and make your witnesses feel proud to be serving as part of your bridal party!

Considering the impulsiveness of their decision, it was to be a beautiful wedding. A German "couple" packed bathing suits and sunglasses, then headed to Africa to get married "where it is warm." The nuptials were interrupted when the lovebirds were stopped at the train station and promptly returned to their parents.

Why? Because they were eloping at least 15 years too soon.

Mika and Anna-Lena, ages 5 and 6, are "very much in love," and decided during a joint family holiday celebration that they wanted to seal the deal. So they grabbed Anna-Lena's seven-year-old sister (an official witness), packed their bags, then jumped on a tram.

Had it not been for those pesky necessities like money and tickets, they may have gotten even farther. But the police at the train station got suspicious and brought them in.

Can you even imagine? Once the shock wears off, their parents are going to be re-telling that story for years to come. When my godson was born just a month before my daughter, my friend and I joked that we should just start planning the wedding now. But even if these families saw puppy love developing between these intrepid tots, I'm sure they figured they had at least a few years before the kids made it official!

Now I am all for planned elopments, but this one takes the cake!!! Isn't love grand?!?!?!?!

The Groom's Cake.......a tribute to your other half!!!

In the past few years, as an officiant, I have noticed the trend of Groom's Cakes and wondered what the history was, how the tradition began, why couples keep it going, when to have it served, and what it is supposed to be made of? I will attempt to answer these questions in this post. It is my understanding that it is a deeply routed Southern custom. Single women are to be the recipients of slices of this cake to put under their pillows to allow them to dream of their future husbands. (Of course this is folklore). The groom's cake is now making a comeback all over the nation and they are becoming very unique. Designers are whipping up elaborate confections that reflect the groom's interests in a dramatic and very memorable way.

No, this isn't your mother's groom's cake! I have posted a few pictures that show you how a great deal of thought will go into the creation and design of the groom's cake. The ceremony plans and the majority of wedding details tend to focus on the brides style and wishes, so this is an opportunity for the groom's personality and style to be in the spotlight. The ideas are endless!!! There are John Deere tractors, tuxedo's, keychains with BMW insignias, sport themes, cakes in the shape of baseball caps and so on.

There really are no rules when it comes to when you should serve the grooms cake. Some couples like to serve it at the rehearsal dinner. Others, serve it at the reception. Either way, the guests will enjoy the change to see the groom's interests and hobbies reflected ii this one in a lifetime form.

Traditionally the cake has been rich chocolate. The cake should really be in the flavor that the groom loves. The cost of the cake will vary depending on the complexity of the design. So...now get busy!! Get creative!! How about a beer keg, or a brief case, or a computer, or even an ipod or laptop? Any talented baker can replicate just about anything in cake that your imagination can dream up. So, honor your groom with a cake to remember, while adding some fun to your reception. Just maybe those single gals will benefit and enjoysome "sweet dreams".

The rehearsal evening was cloudy and cool but for the wedding the sky was a beautiful blue and the sun was shining down on them as they exchanged their vows and rings. Courtney and Erice chose a moving religious ceremony with the reading of Genisis at the opening of the ceremony before Courtney made her entrance with her dad. Music for the ceremony and reception were provided by Grant Hemond ans Associates, and the photography was by Cameron Photography. I will post their pictures from Cameron at a future date. The flowers were designed by SeaSide Florists at the Don CeSear. Tampa Bay Watch was the scene of the beautiful wedding of Alison and Jason! The grounds and ocean view were outstanding and the perfect backdrop for a lovely oceanside wedding. The sun shone brightly as Alison and Jason exchanged their vows. Their readers shared a unique and humorous poem called :A Lovely Love Story" by Edward Monkton. It is a childrens book that has quite a bit in common with how one goes about seeking their mate. I have shared that reading in a prior post. It can be a small intimate ritual or a splendid large family event. This ritual represents a celebration of life! I love to meet the families and learn about this child, how they selected the name of the child, some special features of the child's personality and why this event is so special. The rituals that I perform are non-denominational and do not represent any one particular denomination. It will focus on what you cherish and value about your child. I love to incorporate water into the ceremony and candles, and give other siblings a chance to play a significant role in the ceremony. There are so many creative ideas, such as incorporating the family medallion in the ceremony. This is a piece of jewelry that has been used for joining of couples with children during a marriage, but it is also a piece of jewlery that could be used as a gift for the godparents or sponsors, or a gift for the child. It has three interlocking circles that represent the symbol of unity, a tangible sign of honoring the significant relationships binding together family and friends. Unique and beautiful. There are so many ways to welcome a child in a religious or non-religious way, one family welcomed the child, and each person spoke of what blessings they were going to bestow upon the child and then the family planted a tree to represent new life and growth. Ocean breezes, waves gently coming ashore, the sounds of the gulls overhead, the sun setting off in the distance....all perfect elements as we celebrated the Baptism and Name Giving of Jackson on Madiera Beach in Florida! Jackson enjoyed the festivities, although playing and walking in the sand seemed a bit more appealing! Parents Kendra and Rob,their daughters Naiomi and Savannah and Godparents Rima and Robby celebrated the birth of Jackson and welcomed him into this world. The Godparents and his sisters are aware of the awesome responsibilities they will share in serving as mentors and caretakers of Jackson. What a lucky little boy he is to have such a beautiful circle of family and friends to share with him joy, hope, love and peace. Jackson was blessed with the waters of the ocean in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The candle lit flame represents the light that will guide and protect Jackson throughout life's journey of tears and laughter, of joy and sorrow, and of happiness and sadness, and great love. Each year on his birthday, the family will light the candle until he reaches 18, and then it will be kept and relit on those special occasions that occur on the journey through life.

It is said that the more love a child receives, the more they will benefit in their lives, and the more love in turn they will be able to give to others. I am just humbled when I hear stories of how people go to the rescue of hurricane victims. My husband and I are on the disaster team for our local church, but mostly we just repair roofs and put in windows!!! So when I heard what Rachael was doing to help the victims of Hurricane Ike, I wanted you to know as well!

Tomorrow, on the Rachael Ray show, Rachel and her staff will be going to the rescue of hundreds of brides whose dreams for a beautiful wedding were swept away by Hurricane Ike in Texas. Leave it to Rachael to step in to pull off a beautiful and grand wedding celebration to be held at the Statium. The brides of Harris County will be given a celebration to remember!
